Dublin, October 27th, 2025 — The Kashmir Peace & Solidarity Council Ireland (KPSCI) hosted a solemn and impactful event to mark Kashmir Black Day, commemorating October 27, 1947 the day Indian forces first entered Jammu & Kashmir, beginning a decades-long occupation that continues in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK), now one of the most militarized regions in the world.
The event drew an impressive gathering of diplomats, academics, human rights advocates, and community leaders from Ireland, Europe, Asia, and Africa, all uniting in support of justice and self-determination for the people of Kashmir.
Her Excellency Aisha Farouqi, Ambassador of Pakistan to Ireland, delivered a moving message of solidarity, reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering diplomatic and moral support for the Kashmiri cause.
Maj Gen (R) Guray Alper, a distinguished Turkish scholar on security and geopolitics, presented a compelling analysis of the Kashmir issue within the broader regional and global context, emphasizing the urgent need for peaceful resolution.
Dr. Parvez A. Butt, Chairman of KPSCI, urged the international community to act decisively to prevent Gaza-like atrocities in the region, stressing that silence in the face of oppression is complicity.
Sadia Athar Butt, President of KPSCI, warmly welcomed participants and called for unified, peaceful advocacy grounded in UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
The commemoration concluded with a renewed pledge by KPSCI to continue promoting peaceful dialogue, justice, and global solidarity. The Council expressed gratitude to all attendees who stood together in defense of the rights and dignity of the people of Kashmir.
