A Historic Celebration of Irish Culture in Pakistan

Islamabad, Pakistan —
History was made this weekend as St. Patrick’s Day was celebrated in Pakistan for the very first time, marking a vibrant and unforgettable event that beautifully united diverse cultures, communities, and dignitaries.

Hosted by H.E. Ambassador Mary O’Neil and the Irish Embassy in Pakistan, the celebration was a testament to the strengthening relationship between Ireland and Pakistan. The event showcased the richness of Irish culture while celebrating the spirit of friendship and inclusivity that connects the two nations.

Among the distinguished guests was the President of POC Ireland, who was personally invited by Ambassador Mary O’Neil to attend and represent the growing Irish-Pakistani community at this landmark gathering. In his remarks, Rana Usman expressed heartfelt appreciation for the Ambassador’s proactive engagement with the diaspora, particularly acknowledging her efforts to address community concerns and improve services.

Notably, the event highlighted Ambassador O’Neil’s recent initiatives to facilitate a smoother application process locally in Pakistan, a development warmly welcomed by members of the community both in Pakistan and Ireland.

“This celebration is more than just a cultural gathering — it signals the beginning of a new chapter in Irish-Pakistani relations, built on deeper collaboration, mutual respect, and stronger community ties,” said Rana Usman during his address.

The event also saw the presence of key figures from POC Global, including Chairman Mian Tariq Javed and POC Global Media Advisor Hafsa Hussain, whose participation added to the occasion’s significance.

Team POC Ireland extends its sincere congratulations to Ambassador Mary O’Neil and the Irish Embassy for organising such a meaningful and successful event. This historic celebration is set to pave the way for future initiatives that continue to connect and empower the Irish-Pakistani community worldwide.
