Dublin, Ireland – 9 August 2025 The Pakistan Overseas Community Global (POC Global) Ireland Chapter, in collaboration with the Association of Irish-Pakistani Professionals & Students (AIPPS) and PWCA, hosted a historic and record-breaking celebration of Pakistan’s Independence Day, drawing more than 1,700 attendees from across Ireland.
This was the largest Pakistani community gathering ever recorded in Ireland. The scale of the turnout was so extraordinary that by 5:00 PM, event management had to close the gates as the 500 available parking spaces were completely full, with more guests still trying to enter.
The grand event, led by Rana Usman Ajmal, Vice Chairman of POC Global and President of the Ireland Chapter, showcased the unity, patriotism, and vibrant culture of the Pakistani diaspora. The meticulously organized program reaffirmed POC’s role as the true and effective representative body of overseas Pakistanis in Ireland.
The celebration was honoured by distinguished guests, including Lord Mayor of Dublin, Councillor Ray McAdam, and Her Excellency Ayesha Farooqi, Ambassador of Pakistan to Ireland, who praised the Pakistani community’s unity, love for their homeland, and contributions to Irish society.
The atmosphere reached its peak when world-renowned Qawwal Rafaqat Ali Khan delivered a soul-stirring performance, filling the hall with powerful music and chants of “Pakistan Zindabad.” The day featured a lively mix of live music, traditional Pakistani cuisine, mela stalls, fun games for children, and a variety of prizes. Special awards were presented, including a recognition for Jennifer Murray for her courageous stand against racism and her work promoting equality, respect, and inclusivity.
The event was further enriched by the presence of Mian Tariq Javed (Chairman POC Global), Chaudhry Zaheer Gujjar (President, Gulf Chapter UAE), and Ghazanfar Javed (Chairman, Portugal Chapter), who joined the celebrations waving the Pakistani flag with pride.
Rana Usman Ajmal expressed heartfelt thanks to the organizing team, volunteers, and sponsors, stating,
“This was not just an event it was a celebration of unity, heritage, and friendship. Pakistan Mela and our Independence Day celebrations show the strength and spirit of our community here in Ireland.”
The record turnout and electric atmosphere made the 2025 Pakistan Mela and Independence Day celebrations a shining example of cultural pride and cross-community friendship not only in Ireland but across Europe.
