Cork City, Wednesday 31st May 2023 – In a historic moment, the Pakistani community has been honored with the esteemed Lord Mayor’s Civic, Community and Voluntary Awards in Cork. The recognition was bestowed upon Fahmeda Naheed, founder of The Irish Pakistani Community of Cork Group, and Usman Sharif, the group’s secretary, during a special ceremony held at Cork City Hall. The event was attended by esteemed dignitaries including Eoghan Dinan, Deputy Editor of The Echo, Ann Doherty, CEO of Cork City Council, and the city’s own Lord Mayor, Deirdre Forde.
