This year, POC Ireland has chosen a digital theme to celebrate International Women’s Day. As we continue to navigate the challenges brought on after the global pandemic, technology has become a crucial tool for connecting people and empowering women.
On the 8th of March, International Women’s Day is observed globally to honor women’s accomplishments in social, economic, cultural, and political arenas. This occasion also serves as an opportunity for us to ponder upon the progress made towards achieving gender equality and acknowledge that significant strides are yet to be made.
We express our gratitude to all the women from different parts of the world who actively participated in POC Women’s Day Zoom meeting. Their presence and contributions were highly valued and appreciated. It was heartening to see women from diverse backgrounds coming together to celebrate and support each other on this important occasion. We acknowledge the effort that each participant made to join the meeting, share their thoughts and experiences, and engage in meaningful discussions. The spirit of solidarity and community that was demonstrated during the event was truly inspiring. We hope that this meeting serves as a starting point for continued collaboration and empowerment among women around the world.
We extend our gratitude to the distinguished chief guests, including the Honorable Ambassador Aisha Farooqui, Fianna Fail Senator Catherine Ardagh, Aisha Chaudhry, Dr. Farah Deeba, and Fahmeda Naheed, for gracing the POC Women’s Day Zoom meeting with their presence and invaluable insights. They took the time to educate women about the current challenges and opportunities available for women in Ireland and beyond, which was extremely beneficial and informative. The knowledge shared by the speakers will undoubtedly help many women in their personal and professional growth.
We would also like to give a special thanks to Aisha Chaudhry and Baktawar for organizing this successful digital event. Their efforts in coordinating the logistics and bringing together such a diverse group of women is highly commendable. Their dedication and hard work resulted in a fruitful event that provided an excellent platform for women to come together, learn, and network.
