During Covid-19 pandemic times and being a tween with challenges of Google classroom, teacher’s Zoom calls, working on google docs and submitting work all online was not easy. Working parents particularly mom working from home and I being eldest of five all piled up with a crazy mess- house turned into a call centre. The best idea was to focus on my IT skills to help myself and others in the family- ICLD looked inspiring.
Secondly, while doing schoolwork for creative writing and reading over hundreds of books, I came across an innovative idea of starting an online- blog. After discussing it with my parents, they suggested me to improve my IT Skills and ICDL was an answer to it.
Without a doubt, after doing ICDL I was able to use my skills in lots of things, such as writing drafts on Word for school work or creating a bucket list for mummy; online-shopping while following IT Security measures; keeping track of family expenses; PowerPoint presentation; explaining to my siblings how to submit school work and online-learning; – which gave a serious thought to my ten years old sister- who did ICDL as well.
In addition to all this, I even began typing my stories using MS-Word which kept me busy during my free time. I drafted my ‘Colourful’ CV. My ‘nosy’ siblings are copycat-learning IT skills too. I could keep them occupied instead to poking into my world!
Outside of the IT world, I would also do things like art, drawing and baking. ICDL is a great thing to achieve, especially in Level 5 Restrictions. ICDL has proved to be not only useful but entertaining on its own way- by using different applications from ideas to actions; art to practice and visuals to pictures. I found that in the second lockdown I was more productive with the sense of accomplishment being a certified International Computers Driving License. I am looking forward to explore more in IT field and my own creativity.
