Dublin, 25 June 2026 – The Pakistan Ireland Business Council (PIBC) held another successful monthly networking meeting today at the RDS Members’ Club in Dublin, bringing together members, business leaders, diplomats, and key stakeholders committed to enhancing trade, investment, and commercial cooperation between Ireland and Pakistan.
The meeting provided members with a comprehensive overview of the recent PIBC delegation visit to Pakistan and participation in the high-level EU–Pakistan Business Forum. PIBC Chairperson, Angela Canavan, shared valuable insights from the visit, outlining emerging opportunities for collaboration, investment, and business growth between the two countries.
Participants also received detailed feedback on PIBC’s recent online engagement with the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry. Discussions focused on practical mechanisms to facilitate stronger connections between Irish and Pakistani businesses, enabling companies to explore new markets, establish partnerships, and expand bilateral trade.
The meeting was further enriched by the participation of representatives from Irish Pakistani Professionals Association and Pakistan Ireland Society for Medical Advancement, whose contributions reinforced the importance of community engagement and professional networking in supporting business development initiatives.
A special address was delivered by Shahid Iqbal, who offered valuable perspectives on the evolving Pakistan-Ireland relationship and the growing potential for economic cooperation. During the meeting, PIBC members expressed their appreciation for his dedicated service and significant contributions to strengthening bilateral ties as he prepares to assume his new diplomatic assignment in Tehran. Members extended their best wishes for success in his upcoming role.
The gathering was also honoured by the presence of Mariam Aftab, who joined members for lunch following the meeting. Discussions continued in an informal setting, focusing on ways to deepen economic, trade, and community relations between Ireland and Pakistan.
PIBC also extended a warm welcome to Asim Sattar and the visiting delegation from Belfast, acknowledging their continued support and active engagement with PIBC initiatives in both Ireland and Pakistan.
