A significant step toward enhancing economic cooperation between Pakistan and Ireland was marked today during a constructive meeting with Declan Johnston, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Ireland in Pakistan.
The discussion centered on the upcoming EU–Pakistan Business Forum and the vital role of the Pakistan Ireland Business Council in strengthening trade and investment links between the two countries.
Both sides explored new avenues to expand bilateral business relations, highlighting how Pakistan-based companies can leverage Ireland as a strategic gateway to access broader European markets. The meeting emphasized opportunities for expansion, foreign investment, and international market integration.
A major development discussed was the facilitation of business visas for Pakistani applicants. A dedicated business visa category is now in place, offering faster processing times for those attending business meetings, expos, and trade forums. Notably, applicants will now be allowed to retain their passports during the visa processing period—an important step aimed at easing travel and business mobility.
The participants also agreed on the need to develop practical guidance for entrepreneurs and investors. This includes clear information on business setup procedures, regulatory frameworks, and market entry strategies in both Pakistan and Ireland.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, reflecting a shared commitment to deepening economic ties, improving practical connectivity, and unlocking new business opportunities between the two nations.
