It once again faces criticism for policing women’s bodies.
The French senate has voted that no women under the age of 18 be allowed to wear hijab in public. France is under fire again for policing women’s bodies by controlling their choice of dressing. A number of feminists and scholars have derided the action, which prevents young women from wearing religious symbols in public. The proposed ban has yet to be made into law.
