The Embassy, in collaboration with Bank Alfalah Pakistan, State Bank of Pakistan and Pakistan Overseas Community (POC) Ireland organized the first webinar on Roshan Digital Account (RDA) on 31 October 2024. It was attended by representatives of SBP, Bank Alfalah, President POC Ireland and over seventy five members of Pakistan community in Ireland.
During the session, the representatives of SBP and Bank Alfalah gave a detailed briefing about the Roshan Digital Account (RDA). They apprised about significance and benefits of investing in RDA for account holders as well as to Pakistan’s economy in larger context. Thy informed that over 700,000 RDA accounts have been opened globally by Non Resident Pakistanis with an investment amount of over 8 billion $USD till now.
Rana Usman Ajamal , President POC Ireland appreciated the Embassy and Bank Alfalah and others for organizing the session. He expressed hope that today’s session would help in generating more awareness among Pakistan community in Ireland regarding RDA initiative.
In his remarks, Shahid Iqbal, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy thanked Bank Alfalah and POC Ireland in organizing the session. Highlighting role of overseas Pakistanis, he stated that diaspora played an important role in forging and promoting forward and backward linkages with their countries of origin and countries of choice. He added that engaging the Pakistani diaspora in constructive and meaningful manner remained one of the top priorities of the Government. This was in this spirit that initiative of RDA was launched in 2020. RDA represents a strategic response to the need for a secure, convenient, and efficient banking framework tailored for Pakistanis living abroad. RDA allows our diaspora easy access to banking services in Pakistan, enabling them to make investments, send remittances, pay bills, and contribute to national development—all from the comfort of their homes abroad.
He encouraged the participants to explore the options available through RDA as their investments, remittances, and even small contributions play an integral role in Pakistan’s economy and overall growth.
The session was followed by Q&A session where participants’ queries were responded by representatives of Bank Alfalah.
