A literary evening was organised on the residence of Dr Abdul Mughees on March 9, 2024. This unique and first-of-its-kind event in Dublin was a mix of literary discussions and fine poetry, along with a wide variety of food. Dr Waseem Akhtar set the scene by quoting carefully selected poetry by Iqbal, Faiz and a number of contemporary poets. This was followed by the original poetry of Dr Abdul Mughees and the main guest of the evening, visiting poet Rahat Sarhadi. The poetry of Rahat Sarhadi was excellent; it was throughly enjoyed and generously appreciated by all. The participants also contributed with their informed comments, intelligent interjections and relevant poetry. The original idea of this gathering was conceived by Ikram Niazi, and was made possible by the support of all who attended and contributed. At the end of the evening, everyone agreed that such events, with fine literary contributions and thought provoking insights should be organised more frequently.
