County Longford, Ireland – Sadia Athar has been appointed as the new Peace Commissioner for County Longford and its adjoining counties. The appointment was made by Niall Collins, Minister of State.
The appointment marks an important milestone, entrusting Ms Athar with key statutory responsibilities within the local justice framework. As a Peace Commissioner, she will be authorised to take statutory declarations, witness signatures on official documents as required by various authorities, sign certificates and orders under relevant legislation, and exercise powers to issue summonses and warrants as provided by law.
