Mariam Aftab, Ambassador of Pakistan to Ireland, held a meeting with Katie Kent and Elizabeth McHenry at Enterprise Ireland to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in the education sector.
The discussions focused on enhancing collaboration in higher education, particularly in research partnerships, academic linkages, and joint ventures between Pakistani and Irish institutions. Both sides emphasized the importance of expanding institutional cooperation to support innovation, knowledge exchange, and capacity building.
The meeting also explored opportunities for Irish universities to introduce external degree programmes in Pakistan under the Irish Government’s Transnational Education initiative. This programme aims to broaden access to internationally recognised qualifications and deepen educational ties between both countries.
Both sides expressed strong interest in advancing these initiatives, highlighting education as a key pillar in strengthening long-term Pakistan–Ireland relations and fostering closer people-to-people connections.
