IPIP has run an effective fireside chat on “How to get into Ph.D. in Ireland and excel in the IT R&D field”. The fireside chat was hosted by Ahmad Abdul Wakeel & Ehsan Elahi from the iPIP committee. The Subject matter expert this time was Dr. Mubashar Rehmani who is a renowned international Research Scientist.
Covered the areas such as
a) How to get Ph.D. scholarships across the globe and especially in Ireland
b) What is quality research and how to strive towards it.
c) What is daily life of an IT researcher look like,
d) details of post doc, and
e) different types of research institutes and research publications etc.
The audience was super engaging and asked several questions during the session to get guidance from Dr. Mubashar.
Some of the questions covered were around the importance of technical writing, how to seek collaboration for publications if you are an independent researcher, Editorial boards look into what KPis when selecting fellowships or editors etc.
Dr Mubashir Husain Rehmani (M’14-SM’15) received the B.Eng. degree in computer systems engineering from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, Pakistan, in 2004, the M.S. degree from the University of Paris XI, Paris, France, in 2008, and the Ph.D. degree from the University Pierre and Marie Curie, Paris, in 2011. He is currently working as Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science, Munster Technological University (MTU), Ireland. Prior to this, he worked as Post Doctoral Researcher at the Telecommunications Software and Systems Group (TSSG), Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT), Waterford, Ireland.
